Terms and Conditions

​

These terms and conditions have been drawn up to protect you, the customers and us, The English Swim School.

-Terms and conditions may refer to you, the customer as “your child”, “swimmer” or “student”.

Terms and conditions may refer to The English Swim School as “us”,“swimming school” or “ESS”.

 

-These terms and conditions must be accepted by a parent/guardian who has legal responsibility for the child, by accepting these terms and conditions you are agreeing for yourself and on behalf of your child.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY

 

All physical activity carries risks and may aggravate medical conditions whether present or underlying.

 

ESS accepts no liability for any injury that may occur from the taking part in the swimming lessons unless the injury is a direct result of the actions of ESS staff or caused by a building defect

 

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure your child is fit and well enough to take part in lessons.

 

On occasion, we may ask for further information regarding any illness or condition including a doctors report.

 

Parents/guardians should liaise with their doctor after any illness or medical condition before their child returns to swimming lessons

 

If your child has a medical condition, disability or any additional needs, this must be stated on the registration form. Any changes to your child’s circumstances must be communicated to the school at the earliest opportunity to ensure that up-to-date records are maintained

 

The swimming pool should not be used by persons who have sickness or diarrhoea until 64 hours after the symptoms have stopped.

 

If your child has had Chicken Pox we only allow children to swim after all the scabs have come away from their skin.

 

Verruca’s – If your child has a verruca please make sure this is covered while they are in the pool building and in the pool

 

Students must not take part in lessons if they have had a recent case of diarrhea.  Official guidance states that they must not enter a swimming pool for 2 weeks after their last case.

 

Students must not take part in lessons if they have recently had a case of sickness that resulted in vomiting.  Official guidance states that they must not enter a swimming pool for 2 days after their last case

 

If anyone has a new persistent cough, temperature or loss of taste and smell they are not allowed to swim for 14 days, this also applies if you are living with a family member who is presenting these symptoms.

Parents/guardians accept that at times there will be physical contact between the teacher and their child, this will always be carried out in a professional and caring manner

  

ENROLMENT

You will be notified of the enrolment windows by SMS (text message) and/or email.

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure all contact details are correct, ESS can not be held liable for any consequences that arise from incorrect contact details

PAYMENT POLICY:

Full payment is required upon enrolment.

A place cannot be confirmed unless payment has been paid.

A Bank Transfer is our preferred method of payment. We have the facility to accept swich, and card in person at the premises.

Failure to pay the lesson fees on time may result in your child losing his or her place in the lessons

CANCELLATION POLICY:

No refund can be given for cancellation two weeks before course start 

​

ESS reserves the right to change or cancel a course at any time.

​

Lessons cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, problems with the swimming pools or teaching staff will be re-arranged at a later date where possible if not a credit will be placed on your next term fees.


Refunds will not be applicable for any swimmers unable to attend the alternative lesson offered.

USE OF THE POOL

​

We will have a member of staff meeting and greeting to assist our clients for the first week to help guide you through our system

​

Parents/guardians must remain on site at all times when your child is taking part in the lessons.

​

It is forbidden under all circumstances to use mobile phones and/ or audio visual equipment in the changing rooms. It is forbidden under normal circumstances to use mobile phones and/or audio visual equipment whilst on poolside. No mobile phones and/ or audio visual equipment of any kind are allowed during swimming lessons.

​

Pupils should not enter the pool until requested to do so by their teacher


Pupils should not arrive at the pools until 5 minutes before their lesson.

​

Please shower before you come to the pools.

 

Swimming hats are to be worn by all pupils over the age of 3 years and where necessary hair should be tied back.

The first cap is free from ESS, but if the swimmer lose it, we will change 100 kr for the second cap

​

No jewellery to be worn in the pool.

Strictly no running on poolside

No food to be consumed on the poolside

​

On entering the building shoes should be taken off and put in the child’s/adult’s bag and taken into the changing room with them. All clothing should be put in the locker.

​

We also cannot allow any child to bring their own equipment from home.

​

No adult is allowed on poolside.Except for first and last lesson of the 12 week period. Please wear polyester clothing at these occasions. 

​

We operate a Zero tolerance policy on violence towards members of staff; under no circumstances is violence or abusive behaviour towards any member of staff from parents/carers considered acceptable. We reserve the right to remove any person who is abusive or violent from the premises.
 

DAMAGE OR LOSS

​

ESS does not accept responsibility for any damage or loss of property or articles left on the premises.

​

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE

​

In the event of an emergency, All swimmers and spectators will immediately stop what they are doing and wait quietly for instructions.

​

Should it be necessary to clear the pool, when the instruction is given, all swimmers will move to the sides of the pool, leave the water and stand back from the side. Swimmers will remain standing at all times.

 

If it is necessary to evacuate the building no attempt should be made to recover possessions from the changing rooms or anywhere else within the building. The person in charge will direct you to the evacuation point.


DATA PROTECTION POLICY

 

 ESS holds the name, address and contact information on its members and the parents/guardians responsible for these members. This information is used solely for the business of the school as a teaching swimming school and is not shared with any third party. If any additional use of the information held would require written permission of the member. We will only contact you regarding affairs to do with swimming such as pool closures, enrolments, newsletters, class times, intensive courses, payment reminders and to discuss a child’s progress. We never use your information for marketing purposes or share with third partie
